It is never too late to start new habits that will help you cultivate a healthier lifestyle and become your best self. Check out these 3 simple healthy habits I adopted as part of my daily ritual.

  1. Drink a glass of water. The first thing I do when I wake up is drink a full glass of water for a sensational refreshing feeling. I always keep a bottle of water by my bedside table for when I don’t feel like heading to the kitchen for a cup of matcha and/or hot lemon water. With a full night’s rest, our bodies become dry and naturally dehydrated. We all could use the fast hydration from drinking more fluid in the morning. A glass of water also certainly helps overeating your breakfast and promotes better digestion.

2. Move your body. Whether it be stretching, a walking your dog, or a full on exercise routine, being active will help improve concentration and increase your mood and energy. I prefer doing some light stretches after I wake up in the morning. It helps me relax my joints be in the present moment as a mini mediation session.

3. Eat breakfast. While I prefer a cup of coffee, starting your day off with a meal will help boost your energy levels and alertness. Having breakfast before work or school has been proven to fuel your focus. I typically As an added bonus, breakfast jumpstarts your metabolism and helps you burn more calories through the day.

All you need to do now is apply one or all of these habits to begin cultivating a healthier, happier lifestyle. For those who roll out of bed and out of the door, I know it is hard to visualize setting aside some time to even begin thinking about these habits. The right morning ritual can become an extremely powerful tool as it provides the momentum into the rest of your day. Set the tone for the day ahead of you and do it right!
